![]() ![]() The only thing I noticed is that, for some reason, I had to enable option "Assume that server exist" on Configuration|Advanced, otherwise XY would list the folders on Tree but on List it was the usual gray "\\tsclient\D is unavailable" message. I think \\tsclient\ is the standard here, stands for Terminal Service or something like that I guess. something like "D on PC_LOCAL" in Explorer) then all you have to do in XY to go there is use UNC paths, for example \\tsclient\C will be drive C:, \\tsclient\D\Folder will be D:\Folder, etc At least I didn't had any trouble with it : say you usually go to drive D on your local computer (e.g. ![]() That said, since I just tried this I also tried it in XY of course, and you can totally use this in XY as well (though not as drives). It's a cool trick, but I personally find it to be quite slow, and for my own uses & needs I think FTP is much better, but to each his own of course. Hey, we can do that! Wow, I didn't know we could do that with Remote Desktop (or had totally forgotten about it)! (BTW, again nobody has ever asked for this. ![]() Is it possible to show the remote drives? I mean, in the Remote Desktop, when controlling another computer, the host drives of the computer doing the controlling are normally visible (if the feature is enabled in the connection properties.)I don't think so. Petersboulton wrote:(Also, under Remote Desktop / Windows Terminal Services I notice the remote drives are not available in XYplorer (as far as I can see), whereas they are in Windows Explorer. I absolutely don't think I'm going to regret buying XYplorer! The trouble with setting high standards for your software, which you clearly do, is people expect perfection in accommodating all their little whims! I realise that no file manager can ever meet 100% of everyone's whims/requirements, but having looked at and tested LOADS I'm pretty sure I have found a home with XYplorer! The only alternative, as far as I know, to do this is to use Windows Explorer (yuk!) or to do something with ftp clients and servers (double yuk!). The value of being able to display the host drives of the computer you're running the Remote Desktop Client on, within the Remote Desktop client session of the remote computer is in being able to copy/move files easily between host and remote (and vice versa). (I had that problem with the freeware XYplorer and had to edit the ini just to get it to restart.) I can work with what I've got - I was just expecting, I guess, that it would reconnect automatically (or when I click on the drive in the tree), like Windows Explorer does. Please only if it's no trouble! Only a simple tweak can turn into a major headache for you if, say, one or more of the targets is not available at startup. Thank you ever so much for offering to add a tweak to get the network drives to reconnect automatically at startup. ![]()
